“The classes here at RSU are of the highest academic standard and the faculty has been very helpful throughout my college career.”
I graduated from Afton High School in Afton, Okla. in 2005. I attended Northeastern Vo-tech center in Afton my junior and senior year of high school. There I studied electrical technology and learned about a variety of electrical skills from wiring a house to non-servo robotics.
After high school, I attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami full time while working full time. I obtained an associate degree in integrated technology in the summer of 2006.
After NEO A&M, I decided to attend Rogers State University because it was close to home, affordable, and because I had heard good things about it. I continued my education until 2008. In April of 2008 I signed up for the U.S. Army Reserves and completed basic training and advanced individual training over the summer. After basic training, I decided to get a job and save a little money so that I could afford to move into a place close to campus.
I enrolled at RSU again in the spring of 2009. This time I had financial help from the Department of Veterans Affairs, which allowed me to focus more on my studies and less on working to pay for my education. I met Kyle Beggs who was then the rush chairman for PKA. I joined that semester and ever since the men of the PKA fraternity have helped me reach my potential as a scholar, leader, athlete, and a gentleman.
After I graduate from RSU I plan to receive a direct commission from the U.S. Army Reserves. I would like to switch over to active duty, make a career out of the Armed Forces and see as much of the world as I can.
