Department of Psychology, Sociology & Criminal Justice

The Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice offers a variety of baccalaureate and associate degrees that can prepare you to serve in such areas as therapeutic services, health and medical services, human resources, criminal justice and law enforcement, and social services.

The Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences begins with a strong interdisciplinary core. The student then has the opportunity to specialize in one of two options including Psychology or Sociology.

The Bachelor of Science in Community Counseling is designed to increase the number of mental health professionals in northeast Oklahoma to combat such problems such as substance abuse and other addictions, as well as improve the overall mental heath in the region.

The Bachelor of Science in Justice Administration prepares the student to work in a variety of criminal justice and law enforcement settings. 

All three bachelor degrees afford opportunities for study in applied settings; the student will be immersed in both individual and group work. The degrees serve as excellent preparation for graduate school in a variety of disciplines. The department also offers a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education through a collaborative program with Cameron University.

In addition, the department offers a variety of associate’s degrees including:

• two options in Social Science
• two options in Criminal Justice Studies
• an AA in Elementary Education
• an AA in Legal Assisting

These associate’s degrees will prepare students to pursue a bachelor’s degree here or at other Oklahoma State schools or to immediately enter the workplace.
