Department of Communications
Radio & Television
The RSU Edge: Television and Radio Stations are your entry into the exciting world of broadcast media. Many of our graduates are employed by area television and radio stations in a variety of roles. Your preparation will include courses in news reporting, audio and video production, and media law.
In addition to actual participation with RSU Public Television (KRSC-TV) and RSU Radio (KRSC-91.3 FM), students are provided a diverse curriculum of course instruction. Students learn not only the theory, but also the practice of electronic media production.
RSU is the only university in Oklahoma to provide communications students with “real life” experience at public television and radio stations located on campus and broadcasting across the region.
RSU Radio
RSU Radio is a 3,000-watt student and volunteer-operated radio station on the RSU campus. No other university in the state provides the same level of extensive “hands on” experience to students by providing them with state-of-the-art audio and computer equipment to enhance their announcing and interviewing skills. Visit the RSU Radio web site.
RSU Public Television
RSU communications students can gain valuable experience by working at RSU Public Television – the only public television station on a university campus in Oklahoma. RSU Public TV is a full-power, high-definition station that reaches more than 1 million viewers across Oklahoma and surrounding states. The station, headquartered in Markham Hall on the RSU Claremore campus, features a state-of-the-art control room, video production suites, and a three-camera studio.
RSU communications students receive hands-on training as camera operators, floor directors, and audio and graphics operators. You can develop your own projects, including news and features stories and promotions, with station equipment. Advanced students may work on high-definition digital productions. Visit the RSU Public Television web site.
