RSU offers an associate in arts degree in early childhood/elementary education, designed to prepare students for a career teaching kindergarten and all elementary school grade levels by providing the first two years of general education requirements. Under the CU-RSU collaborative elementary education degree program, students can earn an associate in arts degree in early childhood/elementary education in two years from RSU. Students then transition seamlessly into Cameron’s portion of the program, completing all requirements for a bachelor’s degree from Cameron in two years on the RSU campus in Claremore.
Governed by the same board of regents, Cameron and RSU utilize innovative scheduling approaches to offer the seamless “two plus two” degree program, allowing students to obtain a four-year degree in elementary education in Claremore with no interruption or need to transfer to other institutions. Cameron’s elementary education program, known for its strong enrollment and solid graduation numbers, has traditionally been offered at the university’s Lawton campus in the 16-week format. At RSU, Cameron offers its classes through intensive three-week courses. Cameron’s upper-division program on the RSU campus consists of one semester-long class during each semester, four elementary education courses offered in three-week blocks throughout the semester and field components and student teaching internships in area elementary school classrooms. See the degree information at Cameron's web site. Dr. Lynn Arnn is the Cameron coordinator of elementary education and works full-time on the RSU campus in Claremore. Contact Information
